LOL that's fair! My grandma grew up in Missouri and I have two great-uncles that still live there, but we haven't visited there in years. I think I'm just influenced by how my grandma seemed to me.
Also HUGE difference between northern and southern Missouri, so that might explain our difference in perspective too. It’s a different world once you get down the the Lake of the Ozarks area.
Missouri - I always said anything north of the Missouri River is Midwest, south is basically Northern Arkansas. It's like a whole different world once you get past Columbia. Heck they even have armadillos down there.
As someone who grew up in Iowa and went to college in Missouri, I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you. Missouri is definitely southern :)

Why is my mind so blown by armadillos in Missouri???????????????
It surprised me too. I saw one on the roadside and did a double-take. Haha!
I love reading about what's on other's minds. I find that my mind can wonder so far afield sometimes, it amazes me.
I love reading others’ thoughts too. It’s why I love memoir and creative nonfiction so much. And why I will keep working on writing it well!
Don’t have answers in that opening graph, but DO relate!
it always helps to know when other writers are feeling the same sentiments as me!
I love that you are asking these questions right now. I owe you an email.
A few clarifying Qs
- What books did you enjoy before you became a “professional?”
- What did you enjoy about them?
- Especially if they aren’t considered by reviewers or people with clout as “good,” what did you enjoy about them?
- Separately, what questions about relationships (in the broadest sense of the term) are endlessly fascinating to explore?
- Which of those questions are many others also exploring?
- What questions prompt an emotional reaction when you think about writing them?
- What is the benefits, to the reader, of you writing about these explorations?
Oooh these are good questions. I'm going to have to take a look at them for a while.
